Mixed Media Saturday: Orange Team 14-12

This week the Orange Team is playing with paper from
My Minds Eye Now & Then Izzy line.

We are challenging you to make a project using the paper piecing technique. For my project, I paper-pieced this cute little mushroom together.

I decided to color the spots on the mushroom to match the blue in the background (using Copic B29). Then I added some Gesso and Mr. Huey Sherbet spray dots to the background with one of the Tim Holtz layered masks. It's definitely a spotty card! The flair is from the Now & Then line. It's a pin, so I hooked it up with ribbon so that the recipient could wear the pin. Some orange metal sequins added some sparkle....gotta have some sparkle!

Craftily yours,

Family Friday: Orange Team 14-12

Well, April is almost here and that means Easter is on it's way! I have been working hard to create an Easter activity advent calendar to do with my kids over the upcoming month. I came up with an adorable idea using my Silhouette Cameo! I made these cute Easter Eggs and Bunnies for my "cards" and each has a fun spring activity on the back ( like "go out and play sidewalk chalk" "fly a kite" and "finger paint")
Every other day one of my kids will get to pick a card for a surprise activity to do that day. This is a great way to mix up our routine and do some fun projects with the kids!
I hope you enjoy what I have come up with! Please post your projects for us to see!

(These designs came from the Silhouette Online Store- Design #'s 39818, 26235, 26237, 26238)

Pocket Thursday: Orange Team 14-12

This week the Orange Team is playing with paper from
My Minds Eye Now & Then Izzy line.
Hi everyone, Michelle here from Happy Scrappin'. This week I decided I need to work on some old pictures that I wanted out of the box. I found these cute pictures of my kids and my brother's kids at my mom's house.

I used the papers from
My Minds Eye Now & Then Izzy line, Paper Smooches, Banners stamp and die, and Party Posse for the turtle. I also used the Paper Smooches Die for the star and arrows on the title and below the little turtle. Let me know what you think. Thanks for stopping by.

Mixed Media Green Team 14-11

March 18-March 24
Weekly Challenge - Color Challenge
This week we are creating with COLOR over at Cuttin' and Stampin'.  Michele from Stuff By Belle here and today I am sharing a tag I made for a good friend whose birthday is right around the corner. :)
We are using Simple Stories Homespun collection which you can find at the Cuttin' and Stampin' facebook store.  The colors to use are blue, green, red and yellow.
Before I show you the finished product I have a couple of pictures of the process I used to create the background on my tag.
First I did some watercolor stamping.

Then I used part of one of the journaling cards as a mask for a little more texture.

Now here is the finished tag.  All paper is from the Homespun collection.

I also used several May Arts ribbons, Spellbinder dies for the flowers, Perfect Pearls, Distress Ink in Walnut Stain and a sentiment and background stamp from VLVS!
I just love all the color on this happy tag!

You still have a couple of days to get your project using blue, green, red and yellow linked up on our challenge blog.  I can't wait to see what you create!

Until next time...get inky often!

Pocket Thursday - Color Challenge!

This is a 3x4 card that I am in complete love with! The collections is available on the Cuttin' and Stampin' store. It is the Simple Stories - Home Spun Collection. The color collection, and the dainty edges remind me of back home in the country. I hope this card inspires you to pick up this amazingly adorable collection today and make something memorable with it.

As Always,

Step-By-Step Wednesday {Green Team Week #14-11} - Color Challenge

Challenge - Anything goes using using Green, Blue, Red, Yellow and Teal.

The design team is using the Simple Stories Homespun paper line for this weeks creations.  I absolutely love this line.  The first time I looked at it, I thought about sitting on grandma's front.  I just knew we had to use it for a challenge and offer it in the store.

This Step-by-Step Wednesday edition for Cuttin' and Stampin' is to showcase how to use normal shaped everyday punches to create a tag or label.  While this may already be known by some, I love using this technique to create a sentiment tag after it's been printed or stamped.  It's the easiest way to keep your image in tact or straight rather than trying to cut it first then stamp it.

I absolutely loved the paper and embellishment collection that is being featured this week!  it's the perfect collection for a homey, country feel!

I also used Sketch #15 from Seize the Sketch!  Love using sketches!

To create the tag here with the sentiment on it, was simple.  The hardest part is getting it centered so both ends are even.   Yes, I had to do it a couple times in order to get it to the finished product! :o)  leave yourself plenty of extra room!

I used a 1 3/8" square punch for this one.  You would place the end you want the "flag" cut into the punch.  Be aware of which way you put it in the punch.  As you can see from the leftover piece, you can also make an arrow point!

For another example, I used the scallop square punch on this one to create a fancier tabbed label.  To create this shape, place your paper into the punch, again being aware of which way it goes in to create the sort of shape you are looking for.  This sort of label could be attached with brads or tied with twine also.

Don't just let those punches sit idle!  They get lonely too!! :o)

We think this color group is amazing and I'm sure everyone will create something wonderful with it.  Be sure to link up your projects Here.  And don't forget to go to Cuttin' and Stampin' Scrappy Supplies here to get these goodies and more!

Have a great week!!

Weekly Challenge #14-11

Weekly Challenge 14-11

March 18 - 24, 2014
Challenge - Anything goes using using Green, Blue, Red, Yellow and Teal.
This week in Utah we had a glimpse of spring.  Over the weekend you could find people working in their yards, kids ridding bicycles and people flying kites at the park.  It was so exciting to leave the house with just a sweatshirt on.  But then today, we are expecting snow.

The design team is using the Simple Stories Homespun paper line for this weeks creations.  I absolutely love this line.  The first time I looked at it, I thought about sitting on grandma's front.  I just knew we had to use it for a challenge and offer it in the store.
