Blog Hop 2014 Green Team Intro

 Blog Hop Blinkie

January 31, 2014

Can you believe Cuttin' and Stampin' Challenge Blog has been going for over a year now? It has gone by so fast and we have had so much fun creating and sharing projects with you.  Starting the first of the year we decided to make a few changes.  These changes include bringing you different types of projects, and to do that we needed increase the number of members on the team.  We also decided to split the team in to two.

We hope you will all enjoy the great new variety of project you are about to see from the Green team.  I'm going to start you off with an on going calendar I've been working on.  I really like using the different products to create.

I used some white embossing glaze with a Heidi Swapp mask to create the floating hearts.  The paper is from the Crate Paper Love Notes collection The chipboard hearts are from Um Wow Studios and I used 4 different colors of Dylusion Sprays to color them.

I used a Jaded Blossom Stamp set to create the calendar and stamp the month.

I used the Paper Smooches Always and Forever die set.  I left the Always as the shadow cut and curled the paper up a little bit.  the & and forever where cut after the paper was attached to some foam tape.  I also arranged the red heart paper so that it looked like the forever is coming through the paper.

Now it's time to Meet the rest of the Green Team.  They are an awesome bunch of women and I'm sure you will enjoy what they have to show you.

Your next stop is Michele with Stuff by Belle.

Be sure to stop by each of them and welcome them to our 2014 Design Team.  We will have a drawing for each day of the hop.  Just leave a comment below and at each stop along the way.  We will announce blog winners on Friday along with our regular weekly winners.

Pocket Page 1-30-14

January 30,2014

Hi again!!  Amber with aMbAju Creates with a guest post for Cuttin' and Stampin'! :)

I'm kinda liking filling in for these awesome ladies!

A while back Teresa Collins introduced her You are My Happy line.  The design team went crazy over it.  We decided that it could be used in SO many wonderful ways that we couldn't put just one theme to it.  The challenge for you is to use the colors in the line to create a project.

(This line can also be found here for purchase!!  There is a complete product listing at the end of this post.)

In addition to this super cute line, we also just got in the CHA release from My Mind's Eye called "Record It!" and I. AM. IN. LOVE!!  I figure why not use 2 of the best paper companies out there together?!

I chose to use You Are My Happy and mix in some of the "Record It! - Charmed" line because the gold looks really good with the other collection.

I am NOT a gold-lover.  I don't own any gold jewelry so I was kind of surprised that I was loving these gold foiled cards.

Another issue I ran into was I am actually ALL caught up on my Valentines Day pictures!  So, I decided to create my spread for our 2014 Valentines Day. :)

(Not usually ahead of the game...kind of strange for me!!)

Here's what I came up with:

Left side:
(PS it's hard for me to create a spread with no pictures!!!  The white heart cards are where I'm planning my real pictures to be.  Using these place holders makes it easier for me to visualize since I usually put my pictures down first.)

Right side:

Close up of left 3x4 cards:

Right 3x4 cards:

Title card:

If you want to link up and join us in this challenge, here is where to go!

Until next time.... :)

Family Sunday - 1-26-14

Courtney here with Cshorr Creations.  This week my mind has been on Valentine's Day and what I will be doing for my little family! I decided to create mini Valentine Cards to leave around the house with love notes in them (simple enough for my Kindergartner to read, of course)!
I love what I came up with too!
For this project I use the Crate Paper Love Note Paper Line to come up with these quick and adorable 2.5  x 2.5 inch cards.

Spotlight Saturday - Jessica Lessner

January 25, 2014.

Hello Everyone, I'm really excited to introduce this week's spotlight designer.

Jessica Lessner, with Beyond Rubies.

Hi, my name is Jessie. I am 30 years old, live in Maryland and am married to a wonderful man who happens to be my best friend. I've been crafting most of my life, thanks to my crafty mama but I have only been scrapping and making cards for the last 3 years or so. It all started out innocently enough...when I wanted to make a scrapbook for my aunt as a gift. I didn't have any scrapbook supplies at all...it's hard to believe that now when I look at my craft room today! Someone even told me when I first started that it wouldn't be long before I had a roomful of supplies. I thought, "Nah. Not me." Boy, was I ever wrong! Scrapping and cardmaking has become my way to relax and spend a little "me" time. It's also a blessing to be able to use the product of my relaxation to bring joy to others. How many other hobbies can do that?!

She has created 2 really awesome cards  using the same products as the design team. The design team is using the Crate Paper Love Note paper line and the Love Struck Paper Smooches stamp set

Her first card and my favorite of the two is this one with the random heart paper and cupid in the middle.  The sewing around the edges and bling really set it off.

.

The second card is so playful and fun.  The arrows are just so much fun.

I really want to thank Jessica for being in the Cuttin' and Stampin' spotlight this week.  She's such a wonderful and creative friend.

Pocket Thursday 1-23-14

January 23,2014

Hi again!!  Another guest post for Cuttin' and Stampin'! :)

I'm kinda liking filling in for these awesome ladies!

As a design team, we have seen SO many wonderful paper lines and projects created using arrows.  We decided we wanted to play with arrows too.  The design team is using the Crate Paper Love Note paper line and the Love Struck Paper Smooches stamp set.

I didn't use any arrows on my project, so I'm technically breaking the rules so don't follow my example! :)

I did however use the uber cute Crate Paper Love Note collection to make this Pocket Page:

Another heart veneer colored with the Wink of Stella brush in Dark Pink.

I also included a hidden journaling page.  :)

All of these products can be found for purchase here.

We hope you enjoy this challenge as much as we have.  You have until January 27th to enter your projects HERE.

Step-by-Step 1-22-13 Arrows

January 22, 2014

I just love it when things come together and I can take care of two projects at once.  Today I will be creating a 3x4 card that can be attached to a card front or used as a pocket page filler card.  I'm follow another blog Project Life Card Swap, where we swap 3x4 and 4x6 cards.  I picket the Love theme this month which works really well with this weeks featured paper Love Notes from Crate Paper and the Paper Smooches Love Struck stamp set.

I knew I needed to make 10 cards for trading so I started with the Lawn Fawn Stitched Journaling Card die and used it to cut two cards at a time.  This is actually the fist time I've cut more than one piece of paper at a time and I was really surprised how well it did.  I just folded my 8 1/2 x 11 paper in half and the die fit perfectly.  I was able to cut 6 from each sheet of paper.

I then took the Paper Smooches Love die and cut it out of the flying hearts paper.  I don't know what I was thinking, because you really can't see the hearts on it.  Then I took the die and traced the outline of it and cut it out with scissors.  I needed to create a shadow for my die cut and this is the easiest way I've found to do that.

I took the Love Struck stamp set and stamped and then used the metal die cut for the arrow.   I cut out the heart with the Spellbinders heat die and covered it with Glossy Accents.  After looking at it, the arrow seemed real plain so I colored it with some Wink of Stella silver and pink.

Then I did was something I don't normally recommend, but I have been know to do it a few times.  That is cut my stamp in half.  This way I can use the part of the stamp I need.  With the clear stamps it's very easy to place them back together and stamp with them as a whole unit later on.

I used the Struck part of the stamp.  Using Versamark ink and white embossing powder really helps the word stand out.  I then took my Uni-ball white gel pen and traced along the outside of the stamp where the stitching marks from the die are.

One down, nine more to go.

The anything goes with an arrow challenge ends on Monday.  Be sure to stop by the challenge blog and get your creation entered.  We would love to see what you create.

Until next time.
